This year's theme is repertoire development and different forms of notation – how music can be communicated, shaped and renewed to reach more people, live longer and include more perspectives.

The day is aimed at those who want to challenge ingrained patterns of thinking and contribute to the development of music, accessibility and learning. The days will be partly in English.

Professor Frank Lyons and Professor Paul Moore from Ulster University will talk about the inclusive methods they have used in their work on Zoom Time – Over and Out, a multimedia work featuring ensembles, a symphony orchestra, live sound design, visual elements and VR.

Canadian Jean-Philippe Després from Université Laval will visit us to talk about his exciting research focusing on innovative and inclusive methods in music education, with a particular interest in creativity, improvisation and game-based learning.

We will enjoy a lunch concert with ShareMusic's ensemble Elefantöra, who will also share their experiences of working with both commissioned works and their own productions. Through collaboration with various orchestras, ensembles and conductors, they have explored alternative forms of notation and scores – work that challenges and develops contemporary music-making.

The day also features visits from Jesper Nordin, an internationally active Swedish composer and creator of Gestrument, and Asta Hyvärinen, an internationally active Finnish composer. Both have collaborated on high-profile projects with Elefantöra, where technology, artistry and inclusion have always met and challenged each other.
